Dear Members,

The holiday of Passover always arrives with a sense of anticipation, happiness and beautiful memories. No matter how many times we recite the story of our ancestors’ exodus from Egypt, we still enjoy reading it and telling it with the same enthusiasm and passion that we had when we first listened to it as children from our parents or grandparents. Definitely it is the most interesting story that was ever told.

What do we learn from this story that has been told over and over from one generation to the other over thousands of years?

I believe that the most important lesson is that G-d keeps his promises to his people, He will help us, protect us and even fight our battles for us if needed, and in return, He only wants us to have faith in Him, love Him and live our lives and conduct ourselves according to His commandments.

G-d kept his promises even at times when we were not the perfect people, and He did not abandon us even when we were “Am Kashe Oref” (hard headed people).

I think these are the kind of lessons we should apply to ourselves also, in our relations with our children, our family and our friends.

We are planning to start the renovations of the Mashaal Sanctuary after the High Holy Days. B”H we will be celebrating our next Pessah in the renovated sanctuary.

The board and executive of the Spanish & Portuguese, my family and myself wish all our members, their families and all Am Israel a Happy Passover, and a joyous spring and summer seasons.
